Lee Hein reported his calendar is beginning to fill up and he felt the replacement of State Senate leader Paul McKinley was completed.

County officials reported: Ned reported the county is receiving a State & Federal safety award for road improvements along the Fairview to Viola road. Also Diane DeSotel is retiring effective 12/31/11 but has a month of vacation so the supervisor have tentatively got a plan that could provide better 911 coverage and by restructuring duties of county employees maybe able to maintain salary costs at current levels.
Amy reported she just mailed out property tax notices. New license plates are starting to come out next April for those plates 10 year or older. Business trade and farm specialty plates are being discontinued. She’s attending certified training classes and on schedule to complete the training with the 1st graduating class this spring.

Curt reported that several members from Jones County attended a caucus training session in Dubuque on Oct 17th. The big item is that for the Jan 3rd caucuses we will have the old 17 precincts but after Jan 15th 2012 our precincts will be reduced to 14.

Randy then reported on the plans for the Jan 3rd’s 17 precinct caucuses and the sites. He asked for volunteers who wanted to assist to sign up and announced that two training sessions are planned for Tuesday Dec 13th at 7 pm and Saturday 17th at 9 am at the Lawrence Center in Anamosa.
There was discussion regarding caucus sites, procedures for conducting caucuses and the composition of the Central committee and alternate delegates. Adding to the discussion was the inevitable confusion that moving of the caucuses to a date prior to the Jan 15th date has caused and then the new caucus rules that go into affect after Jan 15th. The biggest concern was how the members of the central committee and their alternates will be realigned. The Exec committee has been lead to believe we’ll receive guidance for this process from the State after the caucuses are completed.

Meeting adjourned at 7:40 pm
