Curt gave a brief report of Caucus night. 728 votes were cast: Romney 200 (27%), Santorum 183 (25.1%), Paul 167 (22.9%), Perry 76 (10.4%), Gingerich 52 (7.1%), Bachman 48 (6.6%), Cain & Huntsman 1 vote each. Twenty 24 new registrations in Monticello’s 4 precincts.
General comments included 1) more sites resulted in greater participation – Monticello up 84 to 117 up 39%. Largest caucus site was Presbyterian Church with Monti 1&2 plus Castle Grove/Lovell with 175 attending with 149 votes. Next largest was Anamosa II/Fairview/Jackson -107. Other thoughts were:
a) Some confusion with sites because different from voting locations and the Secretary of State web site only show voting locations. Thus newspaper listings were the accurate listings. Monti 1 & 2 and Anamosa 2 & 3 were the incorrect locations on the Sec of State site.
b) Berndes Center had 12 potential voters show up in error. Some frustration shown.
c) Candidates did not get their nomination papers to Chr Stewart until the weekend before the caucuses – nothing we can do about it/candidates responsibility
d) If sound system required caucus site chr is responsible for their caucus.
e) Over-all it was a successful caucus night with minor correction required
Curt thanked all who participated in leadership of caucuses and those who were elected or volunteered to help move the party forward in the up coming elections.

Discussion then centered around a spring fund raiser. Exec committee recommended the last week of March and the final selection date was Thurs March 29th 6 PM at the Motor Cycle Museum. Chose a week day because many Counties have better attendance during the week vs weekends. So well give it a try.
County officers then commented. Wayne mentioned the Supervisor are in process of preparing the new budget. No other reports given
Jim and Becky Hogan announced they were hosting a “Meet & Greet” for Dan Zumbach on Sunday Feb 5th 1-5 PM at the Monticello American Legion Hall.
